Description
The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

Clear dark amber colour, white head. Malty aroma, hops, caramel, apricot, quite fruity, somewhat herbal. Bitter flavour, hops, lightly reminding of bile, sweet touch, caramel and fudge. Bitter finish, hops, light sweet lingering malts.
I like this one! Have to go one day to drink it fresh.

Thx. to Thirstybird / Rian? Right? for this one. 50 cl. swintop bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2013. Total whalez bro! Pours burned sugar caramel. Smells very sweet, quite sugary, caramel, toffee and sweet herbs. Fuller than a lot of the similar German beers, caramel, toffee, toffee, dark fruits, plenty of brown sugar, malty, biscuit, generous spices in the back. Fuller than quite a few German lagers, slick. Fine brewsky.

19/I/13 - 33cl swing top bottle @ RBBWG 2013 - BB: 13/III/13 - bottled: 11/I/13 (2013-70) Thanks to Thirstybird for sharing the bottle!

Clear red brown beer, small off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive. aroma: caramel, toast, bit nutty, red lace candy, fruity, sugary. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: little bitter, toast, hay, grains, stable, pretty dry. Aftertaste: some caramel, bitter dry hops, cocoa powder, very hoppy bitter ending. Probably tasted at the wrong moment though. Should have come earlier in the tasting.

Bottle, bought online from www.biershop-braugasthoefe.de. - Hazy yellow. Fruity nose (citrus, no banana). - Dry, with pleasant light citrus notes (’perfumed’), lightly sweetish, a bit tart, very refreshing. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and fruity. - This is a most unusual beer–fans of the sickly sweet Bavarian wheat beers with their banana flavours may not find it to their liking. But it’s a great beer. Unusual but delicious. Just don’t approach it with the idea this is a Bavarian Hefeweizen.

Bottle. Pours clear dark mahogany, large creamy tan head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is molasses, caramel, nutty, chocolate, dried fruit. Rich and complex. Flavor is about the same, quite sweet and rich with a light tart finish. Full bodied and creamy in the mouth; overall a nice beer.
