About
Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.
We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.

Bottle 330 ml. Thanks to FatPhil. Very dark, almost black with very good tan foam. Aroma: wine and barrels, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, rum or brandy, prunes, ice cream with caramel, drunken cherries, a bit floral hops. Taste: powerful, warming, wine, sweetness of caramel and sugar, roasted malt and coffee, rum and barrel, little salt, smoke, prunes and cherry. Excellent!

Tap@The Bishops Arms Savoy (Malmö) - black pour with tan head. Dark roasted malty aroma and taste with prominent coffee, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, some burnt malty notes, roasted finish.

Tap at Olutexpo 2015, Helsinki. Colour is dark orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Spices, pumpkin, harshness and malts. Quite soft for a pumpkin ale.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Pours almost clear reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, caramel, light raisin and overripe fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter.
