The founder of the brewery was a doctor in medicine, Louis Nevejan.

We have recently found papers in the archives stating that the first building dates from 1835 AD. Once it was both a brewery and distillery. The founder died in 1882 and the brewery was sold to Alouis Costenoble. The family brewed for three generations until 1980 when the brewery stopped.

Beer brands included COQ PILS OUD BRUIN & COSMOS. In Esen there were six breweries (all small and part-time) and two distilleries. The actual brewer is doing historical research on West-Flanders breweries since 1900 AD, and has got the 'GOLDEN HAMMER' Trophy, a two yearly award for historic research on breweries. This was attributed by vzw 't Hamerken in Bruges on March 27, 2000 AD

Bottle. Hazy deep amber. Quite fruity and boozy, bit less malty then I remember. Quite nice still, lots of Dolle yeast!

Servida y disfrutada en copa Edimburgo, color oro anaranjado, turbia, espuma blanca de media-alta retención. En nariz lo primero a destacar de ella son los tonos afrutados, sublime, recuerdan a un buen vino blanco con uva de calidad (Chardonnay, verdejo, Sauvignon...), buena presencia de levadura, y especias. En boca cada sorbo despliega una interesante variedad de matices en el paladar, notas frutales (uva, pera, cítricos), malta, azúcar candy, especias (pimienta, cardamomo)...Ligeramente dulce y moderadamente amarga, final seco, embriagadora. Buenísima, una delicia.

Bouteille 33cl partagée avec toute l'équipe de El Birrot, Jafre lors de notre dégustation de début d'année 2024. Merci Isaac.
Bière montrant une date de capsule de 06/2023, sans savoir si cela est la mise en bouteille ou le BB. Je suppose que c'est mise en bouteille.
Claire, pâle, col fin blanc peu tenace.
Arôme sur un bouquet généreux de barrique - avec le côté très belge dont pas mal de douceur résiduelle et qcq pointes d'esters fruités. Ici, cette barrique semble vouloir nous emmener vers un côté vin blanc avec un fruité chargé en sucre.
Palais est épais avec un caractère bien belge - et une douceur résiduelle qui rappelle un vin muscat ou catalan de Moscatell - petite touche de pâte d'amande. Les 12% sont quant à eux, bien présents.

Bottle. Shared with the missus on her birthday. Hazed deep gold. Slim ring of white. Stinks. In a good way. Oak. Balsamic. Leather. Sauternes grape, according to the missus. Dunno where that comes from. Taste is sharp tart fruity and light bitter. Slick and bonkers at 12%. Juicy funky tart finish. Oof.

Hazy blond amber colour, white foam. Nose of green apples, wood, red wine, sweet and tart. More vinous and tart than other SNR's.

Kerstbier Festival. (Barrique 6) Slightly hazy dark golden beer with a white head. Aroma of brett, wood, strong pale malt. Taste of Brett, tart grapes, wood, vineous finish.
