Description
Stiegl is a private brewery with a long tradition. For more than 525 years, sustainability, regionality, local added value and above all the quality of our beers and services have been our top priority. However, this quality is only possible because we only use the best local raw materials. The values to which we have been committed since the brewery was founded in 1492 have made us Austria's leading private brewery.

The brewery's success is inextricably linked to the name "Kiener". The brewery has been owned by the Kiener family for more than 120 years. Since 1990 Heinrich Dieter Kiener (III) is at the helm of the company.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass not really, cause there’s not much foam. Smells nasty. Tastes sourish, somehow stale. Not a good beer.

On tap 25 Jun 07. Golden colored with a bubbling white head. Lots of bubbles emerging from the bottom of the glass. Modest hoppy aroma.Soft mouthfeel. Dry malty flavor with a sweet aftertaste. OK on a warm day in Innsbruck!

31/12 Stiegl Bier, 0.5 l can from Spar in Semriach. As of BB date 15/10 it was first on queue to drink. Poured clear pale yellow body with big white head going down slowly. Nice herbal aroma, flowery and slightly malt fruity, too. Flavor is not nearly as pleasant, slightly bitterish, watery and boring, even slightly metallic. Finish is medium long, following that boring flavor, although not metallic after all. Hoped it could be much better, I think it’s not spoilt but simply an ordinary, one dimensional pale lager.

300ml vom Fass at the brew pub, Wien. Amber body, slightly unclear. Persistent, white head. Grassy aroma with a spicy touch. Sweet taste of dark honey offset by citric fruits. Rather watered mouthfeel and just a little bit of Weihnachtlichen Gefühle (04.12.2007).

500ml bottle. Golden body with a thin ring of white bubbles on the surface. Fresh grassy aroma with sweety notes. Slightly honey sweetness in flavour with hints lemon and soft malts. Beyond middle-of-the road for the style (Wien, 02.12.2007).

Canned. Yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is brady and slightly rubbery with malt coming in. Flavour is Saaz and some quite sweet malts. A straight-on brew, but not very special.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with ozujsko (thanks!) Poured a golden-yellow body with big bubbles of carbonation, and a medium sized white head that went away almost immediately. Full lemony nose. Somewhat pleasant fakeish lemon taste, like cheap lemon flavoured hard candy. Graininess in the background and some bitterness that might be hops but is probably aspartame. Refreshing though and I’ve had worse.
