Description
Stiegl is a private brewery with a long tradition. For more than 525 years, sustainability, regionality, local added value and above all the quality of our beers and services have been our top priority. However, this quality is only possible because we only use the best local raw materials. The values to which we have been committed since the brewery was founded in 1492 have made us Austria's leading private brewery.

The brewery's success is inextricably linked to the name "Kiener". The brewery has been owned by the Kiener family for more than 120 years. Since 1990 Heinrich Dieter Kiener (III) is at the helm of the company.

This is a new one for me. I have never encountered this brewery before. The bottle talks a good talk, but somewhere along the way the walk got tripped up. Sampled from the typical 16.9 oz bottle the beer poured an opaque dark grey-tan reminiscent of the usual Pennsylvania mud puddle. At least there was a creamy medium sized white head to go with this. Overall a rather ugly beer though. The scent was of sharp citrus tang and some wheat notes. The flavor was tangy and citrusy with a dark bready wheat flavor. There was a bit of bitterness on the finish. Overall the beer lacks any true complexity but thank heavens it at least tastes better than it looked. This was an ok wheat but certainly not one I would purchase again given how many better brews are available.

Nice mild hops aroma - good, clear color. Weak flavor - can only just detect the malt/hops. Pleasant but not outstanding. A good ski-brew.

Cloudy yellow. Aromas of lemon and wheat. Flavor is very sweet with lemon and wheat, also sugar and green tea. Light and refreshing. A great choice on a hot day. Didn’t get a soda like quality from this.

Very good aroma of citrus and malt. Not as cloudy as many of the style, but a very large and long lasting head. Flavors of citrus, sweet wheat and sour fruit. good.

3-year-old bottle. Pours dark yellow (if such a thing can be envisioned) with a foamy head. A somewhat sticky malt taste, but a decent Austrian lager profile. Kind of a dry finish. It's possible this bottle has gone stale, but I'm trying to look past that in my rating.

Import keg draft Enjoyed this in a heated tent at Chicago’s downtown Kristkindl Market. For a pilsener, it’s kind of light on the malts. There’s a thin but persistent head, a straw colored body with bubbles that don’t stop. Clean lager taste with a light hop balance, not as pronounced as, say, a Pilsner Urquell. Still, nice to have.

Blandish macro-pils that drops nuances of noble hops, hints of bready pale malt and not a whole lot else.
