Description

Draught at Monk's: pours pinkish orange with no head. Aroma is socks and basements, but not very complex. Taste is somewhat sour. Funky. OK.

750mL bottle #648/1400, shared by AdamChandler on 8/3/24. Still nicely carbonated. Rather dark for a gueuze...that's kinda odd. More amber than anything. Musty, lactic, sourish nose. Heavy lactose c character with strong cheese cloth and some moderate citric character almost. Yeah there's the culprit. Definite strong oxidation has rendered the beer darker. Surprisingly not bad for it, though. Very citrusy with some backing sweet malts and a slick, wheaty texture. Juicy almost. Strongly lactic but no acetic. Interesting salinity too, that you don't usually see in a lambic. Quite approachable and still in ok shape after 16 years.

2009 bottling date. Bottle # 648 shared by Adamchandler. Aroma is moldy cheese and musty basement. Flavor is very oaky, old cheese and musty yeast. Way to old to really enjoy.
