Description
Although Bergquell beer has been brewed since 1846, the company has been a purely regional brewery for a long time. For the 150th anniversary - 1996 - the new building in the industrial area Löbau-West was inaugurated. In 1999, the annual output was 7,000 hectoliters of beer. But within a few years, the company developed into one of the most modern breweries in Europe with a current annual production of around 200,000 hectoliters and a nation-wide reputation in Germany.

Bottle at Base Camp. As I like to punish myself sometimes. Daaark brownish coppery body, more on the brown side. Off-white, small head. Some vague nutty dark malt, sugary herbal touches. Sweet sugary csramelly taste, vague herbal notes, some cardboard, vaguely, very vaguely tart.

Tap at Moosburg. Deep chestnut brown. Cherry, but surprisingly not too bad. Cherry, malt, syrup sweetness. Better than the base beer, but not as good as the strawberry one.

Tap at Moosburger Bierfest. Light metallic pithy cherry on wood and roast, dark brown, offwhite lacing cream. Sweet cherry base, dark sugar, somewhat artificial.
Creamy, light sticky texture.

Tap at the Moosburger Bierfest.
Artificial strawberry nose,
Clear brown, offers lace
Spritzy mouthfeel, mellow body
Strawberry fizz on light chocolate and roast, a hint licorice, surprisingly drinkable despite the diabetes risk.
Fun, does indeed improve on the base beer.

Tap at Moosburg. Deep chestnut brown. Nose is strong strawberry syrup, you can place this beer 2 meter away on the table, and still get strawberry. Fizzy, light. Still sweet, but somehow less intense cough syrup, compared to the base beer. I kinda like it.
