Established in 2004 by Robert Wicks, the Westerham Brewery Company is proud to bring brewing back to the historic town of Westerham. With a rich brewing heritage, Westerham can once again be proud of locally brewed, top quality real ales. Producing exceptional craft beer for the local market, we support the initiative to reduce food miles in the supply chain. Many ‘national brands’ are transported long distances and suffer from poor storage and handling.

Westerham Brewery Company has revived many of the much-loved flavours of the old Black Eagle Brewery, which closed in 1965 following the catastrophic consolidation by the ‘Big Brewers’ in the 1950’s. The yeast is re-cultured from the Black Eagle strain.

Cask at the Hope and Champion, Beaconsfield. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a frothy lasting white head. The aroma is malt, yeast, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth, malty, light medicinal woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied soft carbonation. Sadly coming to the end of the barrel.

Cask handpull at The County Hotel JDW Ashford. Clear amber colour lasting white head. Some citrus grapefruit from the American hops over a traditional bitter. Decent condition. Some bitterness on the finish. Citrusy hoppy bitter.

500ml bottle. Gluten Free. Amber gold colour, white foam head leaving alittle lacing and malty, grainy, metallic aroma. Taste is sweet malty, with toffee & caramel hints, and fruity citrusy metallic bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy bitter finish. Quite OK.

Cask at the Hamilton Hall (JDW), Liverpool Street, London. A pale amber pour with a ring of white head; crisp grassy aroma with a touch of citrus; sticky in the mouth with a lemony citrus taste, and a grassy bitterness, but somehow rather sweet overall.

330ml bottle. Gluten Free. Yellow golden colour, white foam head leaving lacing and aroma of sweetish malt, straw, grassy. Taste is sweet malty, earthy, with straw, hay and some grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry slightly metallic grassy bitter finish. Quite OK.

Taste is sweetish malty, bread, toffee with chocolatey & roasted hints and some drying nutty bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite OK traditional bitter.

Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, light grain. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, sweet malt, pale malt, grass.
