About
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.

Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.

In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.

Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Colour clear medium amber, two finger frothy white head, good retention and lacing. Strong fruity aroma, grapefruit, lemon, bitter orange, pine, light caramel. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter, malty bits, citrusy. Finish is dry and bittersweet, spicy and hoppy, very aromatic and well-balanced IPA. Good stuff.

Pours rather viscously to huge, layered nutbrown-beige head over deep dark brown beer with textbook lace. Roasted, hops, but also a tad soapy nose. Once more husks & smokey; black cardamome. Hint - not more - at whiskey. Peat, tarr, turf, pubs in Ireland (not: Irish pubs). Some alcohol, again masked spirit, bit nutty. MF seems to be the Kees! Achillesheel - again one which is too thinnish for the type of beer. Well-carbonated. More than decent.

Thick yellow-cream head over chestnut-coloured, clear beer. Sweetish nose, bready, coloured malts; bit leafy. Slight smokey notes... Rauchmalz? Bitterish, smokey, again really leafy, autumn/dark leaves, husks. And even a bit of musk, some ureum in the finish. Slight astringency; spritzy carbonation harmonizes the slick, velvety MF. Not very well-bodied, however. AHA! Probably the best from Kees! so far - meaning Kees is back on his former Emelisse level.

No head to speak of; deep brown-black beer. Pudding, flan , vanilla, dessert from a package. Bit of wood, giving some depth at least. Bitter, wood, bitterroast, bitter chocolate. Some vanilla, but much less crème brûlée than some USA experiments. Autumn leaves, undergrowth. Well bodied, slick, feels rather fizzy. The bitterness in the mouth gives some relief from the cheap dessert impression the nose announced. Oh what, I despise crème brûlée anyhow.

Very dense, closed yellowish head, leaving textbook lace over clear metallic copper-orange beer. Indeed fresh hops’ nose, citrus & fruity, but also weeds, wild, nettles (Belgian Cascade)... Resiny hopflavour, and a suggestion of (fruity) sweetness in the finish. The aftertaste, OTOH, is pure raw wry hopoils and -resins. Preserved oranges, grapefruitpeel. Astringen, resiny; medium bodied; feeling better carbonated than it looks. For the real hopheads.

Huge, dense yellow head over veiled metallic orange beer. Bit pastry, cakelike, and fruity aromas; peach, passion, citrus. Hoppy bitterness; fragrant if that can be said about taste. Again fruity flavours, but rather restrained. Tad metallic. Light to medium bodied, long hopoily aftertaste. Bit bread-and-butter IPA. As suggested by the name?

330ml Bottle (Thanks Borresteijn) - Copper red in colour. Caramel, marzipan, raisins and rye bread in the aroma. Nicely balanced taste with fruity, sweet and slightly sharp notes combining well and featuring hints of raisins, sultanas, prunes, marzipan and caramel. Very easy to drink considering its strength.
