Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

Bottle from Morrisons. Clear amber/ruby body with a tight off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of toffee, rust and dried fruit. Flavour of Dr Pepper and salted caramel. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. It’s quite boozy but there’s lots of flavour.

was personnaly disappointing about this beer. The body is copper, white foam. The taste is metallic, unpleasant, some hop.

Bottle from House Of Trembling Madness. Black body with a thin beige head. No visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and Marmite. Flavour of nuts, prune and dark chocolate. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Easy to drink for the ABV but it’s not as complex as I hoped it would be.

Spoons Spring Fest 2025 - Roasted and sweet malty with notes of chocolate, fudge and caramel, getting the tart to sweet cherry chiming in (well balanced), soft smooth cask carb, chocolate and cherry accented lingering malty finish. Nice one.

Fog on the Tyne could probably be covered as Smog on the Wear if the Sunderland massive ever felt so inclined. I doubt they'll rekindle my suggestion. This same named brew is pretty bland. Hoppy but flavourless.
