0.33l bottle from a great shop in Split. This was my first Flemish Sour, and I think I’m going to love this style. A very respectable looking bottle (despite "barely malt" listed in the ingredients, along with... corn..wow) The first thing I noticed while pouring this in a glass (completely unappropriate kind, but you try getting proper glassware in Croatia.....) was the strong red wine-like nose, and further examination revealed some vinegary and malty hints. It looked very nice, medium sized creamy white-going-tan head that went away fast, dark and hazy red colour. Sharp and tart foreground fighting with the full woody and berry like vineous background. Like nothing I drank before, and yet so damn good. So complex, and yet so refreshing. Quite possibly the best beer I’ve had yet.

(bottle) Clear and dark ruby red colour with a frothy tanned medium head. Vineous woody aroma with cherries, slightly acidic and malty. Sour and fruity taste of black cherries, good balanced with a dense sweetness, medium bodied. Very dry and lasting tart, fruity and slightly sweet finish. A gem !

750ml bottle-pours a thick creamy tan head that reduces to thin, with patches of remaining thicker head. Color appears dark brown, held up to light-it’s a clear dark amber. Aroma is vinegar, malty. Taste-nicely done. Interesting balance of vinegar and malty that comes across light and refreshing, somewhat like an apple spritzer/cider. My first Flemish. While this seems to be an acquired taste & it didn’t jump out at me to be a ‘regular’, I will be back to retry this style.

Draught at Blind Tiger - cloudy amber hue, with minimal head - musty, sour aroma, with some cherry - actually not that sour - pretty thin, with some earthy notes and background cherry flavor - really not a lot going on - it kind of tastes like they took a "real" flemish sour and added water to it.

Bottle. Reddy brown with very thin off white head. Sour fruity nose, very interesting with some stale beer. Cherries and red fruit, sour but not overly so in the mouth with more red cherry fruit and then pleasant sour sweet finish

Bottle at Hotel Belfort Poperinge. Only for those that like sour beer. Ruby brown sour red beer with some fruity malt but sour nose and finish 2.1 early idiot rating. On tap at 5 to 12 Nieuwpoort. Clear deep red colour lasting beige head. Yep that's a good mix of sour and sweetness Some red fruits. Some bitterness. Really drinkable with just the right edges of sweet sour and bitter. Good. A classic

Sour fruit aroma. Light red coloring. Flavor is initially sweet fruit with a slightly sour finish. Some wheat in the flavor. Very approachable. Pleasant, with a soft palate that makes it easy to drink.

(Bottle 33 cl) Beerlovers around the world cried bitter tears when the new ownership of Rodenbach phased out the beloved "Alexander" cherry beer. But years later comes this new Kriek based on Rodenbach sour ale. And contradictory to the heap of stickingly sweet fruit beers that float the Belgian markets in recent years this is a decent Kriek for adults - in spite of the low alcohol. Pours a beautiful red, completely opaque with a small, fine reddish head. Pronounced acidic cherry aroma. Lovely cherry flavours with a distinct sourness again and typical notes of iron. A very decent beer and a pleasant surprise. 080805

Bottle. Brown beer with a thin beige head. Sweet malt aroma under lots of sour/tartness. Complex flavor - sweet (sugar/brown sugar), some oak, fruity (cherry, raisin, lemon), and very sour. But there’s enough sweetness to make this very refreshing. Dry finish.

This was the first time I have ever encountered a beer by this brewer. Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlights and only a trace of a tan head. The aroma is sour and vaguely vinegar like. The favor is sour and has a mild vinegar element. There is a light malt undertone and a tangy zing in the sour finish. There are also light fruity undertones. Nice, but not my favorite in the style.
