Cask at the Three Kings Inn, Hanley Castle. Black with creamy beige head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, sweetish, smooth, nice roasty bitter finish. Medium bodied.

On cask at The Wellington, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bready malt and earthy hops. Flavour is fairly bitter, with earthy hops, metallic notes, and bready malt. Metallic and bitter. Not much going on, but it's pleasant.

On cask at The Wellington, pours a clear copper work a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt and subdued English hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with bready malt, English hops, and some metallic notes. Metallic and bitter. Meh.

Cask at the Wellington; dark brown pour with a bubbly light tan head, aroma has burned malts and chocolate, taste has chocolate, some light fruits, winter cake.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Middle of the road gold colour, clear with an uneven white head. Malt led aroma with grain, TCP. Tastes bitter with a heavy astringent edge, but it warms slightly to sweeter notes with candied citrus peel. Finish has a lively balance with a further medicinal sting. This grew on me, although it's not my sort of beer it's great to try.

Cask, 15th Nov 2019; The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire. Clean golden body, decent white head. Citrus leanings throughout, but subtle rather than 'in your face'. Dry finish.

Half-pint, cask ale, shared with Finn at Greyfriar. Clear warm golden body, remaining filmy layer, clingy lacing. restrained aromas of doughy fruits. Mixed taste of apricot and semi sweet grainy malts. Distant, smooth bitter end. Just alright. (Reading 20.10.2019).

Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head and good lacing. There is some liquorice in the nose. The mouth has a creamy consistency with coffee and hints of chocolate. Finish starts off as cramy, but then fades into hops and malts. Nice and understated – very drinkable.
