Bottle@Craft Clerkenwell (RBESG 10/08/2014) - fuzzy amber pour with 0 head. Sweet malty and fruity notes, some herbal spice in there, cardamom and cinnamon, boozy warming finish. Surprisingly better than anticipated.

Bottle shared during the RBESG London 2014 Sunday Tasting. Thanks to Kenny for this one. Vintage 2009. Pours clear amber with a few bubbles for a head. The nose is heavy with winter spices, honey and caramel. Hugely sweet flavor with syrupy sugars, stewed fruits, more honey, caramel, apples, cinnamon. Full bodied, soft and chewy. Warming on the finish with ample wintery spices, alcohol, more cinnamon and honey. Rich and decadent. A real sipper.

Bottle at RBESG ’14, day 4 not so grand tasting at Craft Clerko, 10/08/14. Very lightly hazed amber with little in the way of a head. Nose is boozey, spice, cinnamon buns, nutty, booze fumes. Taste comprises sweet licks, candied fruit rinds, caramel, more boozey do’s. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet warming alocohol in the finish. Not the worst beer I’ve ever had but does beg the question - Why ?

RBESG pt 19. Craft Clerkenwell. Grandish Tasting. Lightly hazy amber beer, no head. Palate is smooth and dry. Mild fine carbonation. Warming sweet malt with honey, lemon, cherry and spices. Light Madeira vibe going on as well. Tasty but quite meady. Spicy linger.

Bottle at RBESG 2014. It pours deep brown with minimal head. The nose is rich, boozy, sweet, big sherry, candied fruits, berry and wood. The taste is slick, sweet, viscous, oily, candied fruits, raisin, honey, booze, candy, fruit syrup and fruit cake with a sweet finish. Full body, low carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Sweet, boozy liquor.... Still not all that bad....

2012 bottle @ home, thanks to Papsoe for sending! Pours a deep brown / black appearance with an initially sizable brown head that does dissipate pretty quickly. Some burnt rubber in the nose. Dark chocolate, anise, plum, dried fruit in the aroma which is kind of strange. Medium body - kind of creamy. Pretty high carbonation. Milk sugar, smoke, char, and dark fruit in the mouth. I didn’t really get any whiskey. Kind of a fun beer that I probably should have opened earlier.
