Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 15/10/22. Deep amber in colour with a slight head. Sweetish, caramel and red fruit aroma, with some citrus hops and whiff of pine. Flavour of caramel with ripe, biscuity, malts, more red fruits, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Full pint, cask, shared with Finn at Lord Burton (JDW). Clear copper coloured body, fair off-white head, rings of lace down the glass. Inviting smell of caramel malts and berry skins. Mix malt-berry flavours, caramel, bread and biscuit support. Ends bittersweet. Nice with the chicken salad. (Burton-on-Trent, 14.10.2022).

Cask at Square Bottle, Chester. Pours a slightly hazy “bitter brown” with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has pine and malts. In the mouth it has a bitter sharpness with a mix of traditional and floral hops. Hints of spruce and ginger too. Finish is quite bitter with spicy overtones. I’m not normally keen on Purity beers, but this is quite nice.

Cask @ Regal Moon, Rochdale. Wetherspoon 2022 Autumn Beer Festival Ale. Hoppy with a fair strength subduing its fruity elements, which when found have a low citric influence, but provide a tropical aftertaste.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A bright chestnut pour with a tight white head; berry aroma; sweet berry taste to start, then some astringent pine adding bitterness; rather thin caramel malt body; and a biscuity finish. Not bad.
