Hand-pulled cask ale at Exeter Arms. Half pint. Fragile lacing from a thin white head. Bright amber coloured body. Brown malty nose with a touch of dried fruits. Mixed taste of leafy hops, orange, and toffee. Bitter malt-fruity finish. True to the style. Drinks well (Derby 22.02.2015).

Half pint, cask ale at Exeter Arms in Derby. Filmy layer at the top of a clear dark amber coloured body. Aroma of smooth juicy malts. Well blended malt-fruity flavours with a mild, but lingering, bitter touch to the ending. Nice and uncomplicated (22.02.2015).

Well-kept half pint on cask at the Silk Mill in Derby. Bubbly beige head to a jet black body. Nicely roasted dark malty nose. Vanilla sweet chocolate and raisin to the taste buds offset by bitter coffee grounds towards the finish. Pretty good (21.02.2015).

Cask at the Dean Swift, 03/01/15. Clear golden with a decent off white covering that retains well. Nose is pale malt, straw, light citric vibes, pretty mellow all round. Taste comprises straw, pale malt, melon, grassy, light bread notes, lemon rind. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitterness in the close. So so - NOT an IPA, more of an ESB, no hop presence and at 5.5% ABV is firmly in APA territory anyway!
