Bottle (kindly delivered by Quack-Duckstone!): Hazy, light amber coloured, big - slowly collapsing - loose and lacy off-white head, slight hoppy and toasty nose, some wood (?) plus a tinge of perfume detectable; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering dryish hoppy and malty finish with a mild alcohol-burn. Not bad, but a bit too tame......

(bottle, with thanks to Quack-Duck) Hazy, amber coloured hue with UFOs and big but collapsing off-white foamy head. Yeasty, slightly sourish fruity and minimally resiny hoppy aroma with hints of cara-malt and a delicately perfumed/soapy touch. Moderately bitter flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Yeasty, cara-malty base with fruity and slightly piney hops; mildly bitter and fruity hoppy finish with resiny notes and a tinge of acidity. Not the perfect IPA but a nice try. 31.X.11

bottle. Hazy deep golden colour, large off-white head, creamy, leaving lacework. Lovely fruity aroma, trpical fruit, hints of lemon. Full-bodied, smooth palate, velvety. Intensive malt flavours, slightly sweet with a touch of alcohol, balanced by an intensive hoppy bitterness with delicious fruit notes: mango, ananas, citrus fruit... lots of tropical fruits. Good stuff.

On tap at Hamburger Stadtkrug, September 2011. Amber with a medium, creamy head. Light roasted malt, fruit and some light notes of smoke. Drinkable but nothing exciting.

Reddish amber colour, Nice white head but disappearing fast. Very little aroma. Some caramel, little malt. No detectable wood tones, even though it should be matured on beech wood according to the bottle. Flavour is better detectable, though still not very pronounced. Caramel and malt sweetness, slight smoke background. Only light bitterness. Rather thin body. Finish sweet malty and slightly smoky. And it seems to leave a sticky feel around the lips.

Blumiger Nachhall. Ein echt gelungenes Bier, ich freue mich auf No 02! 10/13/10/11/11/11

A fresher and lighter taste than in Franziskaner and other "standard" weizens. This doesn’t mean that Duckstein would be watery, though, it is great. The excellent choice for a refreshing wheatbeer.
