Medium chestnut colour. The aroma hits with a massive alcohol punch, leaving only a little bit of room for malts. There is some mapley, brandyish character but this is very, very boozey and the finish is so hot I just can’t begin to appreciate anything else here.

Very dark brown colour. Fudgey, lightly chocolatey aroma. Stinging, hoppy flavours with a lot of roasty, bitter intensity. Fairly straightforward character, but intense.

Orangey-amber colour. Brash hop aroma is very heady. You really sit up and take notice when presented with this one. Massive bitterness, off which some really neat spicy hop flavours play. Can’t really say it’s balanced because it’s not even close. It’s what I imagine drinking hop extract would be like. Still, it tastes great and that aroma is killer.

Slightly hazy amber. Massive hop aroma is very much bursting with fruity notes. The body is pretty light for style, as is the maltiness, leaving this an ode to hops, which again take on a fairly fruity character, but lack the bold, bright quality I enjoyed so much in the aroma.

Bottled. Deep orange red. Massive lychee aroma. Sweet and supermalty with soft, rounded mouthfeel. Megahoppy with some burning alcohol coming through and an extremely bitter finish . What amazes me is the softness of the malt here, in the midst of the hop and alcohol onslaught - that’s what makes this beer so good.

Bottled. Dark nut brown. Cherry aroma. Sweet withsome acidity and inteersting deep buttery maltineess. Soft and rich with plenty of warming alcohol and some oak. More old ale character than Scottish ale. Whatever it is there’s a lot of it, and it’s good!

Bottled. Clear amber. Fairly strong lychee aroma. Dryish with clean mouthfeel and fairly light body. Notes of melon, medium bitterness. A predominantly hop aromatic very drinkable IPA.

Bottled. Thick clear pale brown. Madeira-like oaky nose. Sweet and fruity, perfumy and liqueur-like. Full bodied with thick mouthfeel. Hints of apples. or rather calvados. Complex flavours, even though the barrel flavours dominate. Unique.

Huge thanks to herbjones for hooking me up with this rarity - very dark, reddish brown in color, with a huge aroma of brandy, oak, vanilla, toffee, oats, earthy qualities - very smooth, with well-masked alcohol - the brandy is very apparent in the flavor, but doesn’t overpower the "barleywine flavors" - huge malt presence, but it never gets cloying - caramel, toffee, figs, dates, plums - this is just absolutely awesome!

Golden-brown colour. Slight haze, no head and no visible carbonation. Big malty aroma with fruity notes...hey this strong and I’ll let it slide a bit. Fair bit of bourbon nose as well. Big. Just big. Soft body with hints of maple, oak, bourbon, and rich malts. Warming and smooth, if a bit hot in the finish.
