About
The Hanging Bat beer cafe opened on Lothian Road in Edinburgh in 2012. Since then it has become the major place in the city to try out an eclectic mix of craft beers.

We also have our very own brewing area where our brewer makes the finest ales, you won’t find these ales anywhere else in the world.

Bottle share at Ratebeer meet up, Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham Saturday 5th March 2016 cheers to Wingman Willis. Pours lemony colour with a white head, another great inbetweener as it is a real fruity, zappy, fresh antidote to the flurry of Impy Stouts we’ve just had, a good fresh refreshing sipper, nice. Keg at Beavertown as "Hanging Bat Brew Co BA Barely Any Beer". It pours black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, oily, vanilla, medicinal, whisky, burnt toffee, charred wood, burnt plastic, coconut and medicinal action. The taste is rich, slick, oily, burnt tires, burnt plastic, chewy malt, liquorice, smoke with a dry, smoked finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Too much burnt plastic. Not great..

Keg at Small Bar Bristol. It pours jet black with a decent light tan head. The nose is rich roast, burnt pine, earthy, salted liquorice, orange peel, light soap and cocoa nibs. The taste is pretty bitter, burnt pine, soapy, citrus peel, floral, earthy, umami, liquorice, cracked black pepper with a very dry finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Pretty punchy, but probably too dry. Hoppy porter? Aka black IPA.
