33 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Courtesy of & thx! to Kraddel. Sort of digging the label. Dark red brown beer with little in the way of head. Simple & sugary nose, vanilla, cereal, toffee & mainly sugar. Taste is pretty simple, caramel, lots of brown sugar & some bitter herbs. Little carb. touch oily. It is okay but lacks in much to get exited over. With this much malt, ingredients etc. this ABV, I suppose unless if you do something truly horrible, you are going to get something okay at least which is what this is for me.

Small yellow-cream head, irregular, fast gone over fully opaque dark-brown beer. End of bottle solid yeast, even some Ufo’s. Sweet, molasses, chocolate, ethanol, yeast esters, and a faraway sourish hint. Sweet, liquorice onslaught, mildly roasted, and of course a shot nearly raw alcohol. Finish, however, is more balanced; the flavours, with some chocolate thrown into, coming together, the esters blending in and fading. Fiery alcoholheat, very well-bodied, viscously slick, better carbonated than the visual. Again one on ethanol-steroids, but the overall impression is not quite bad. Good winter warmer, nog exagerating on the spicy side.

Nose is not bad at all, sweet with sugar, caramel, oily, warming, touch cognac, simple but satisfactory. Taste is less, warming, sweetness covers most of the ABV, touch iron upront, touch bitter herbs in the back, otherwise, no depth or anything, just sweet & sugary, lots of sugar. Sugar & sweet caramel malts, zero complexity. Lightly sticky, little carb. Okay.

Dense, rather fine cream-coloured head over cloudy amberish-orange beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Sweet, perfumed & alcoholic nose; citrus and herbs. Lots of yeasty esters, "hot" (meaning Belgian, in many opinions). Very alcoholic, caramle, citrus on liqueur; waffles with alcoholic syrup. White candi Sugar and maltsyrup, human sweat - "hot" again, and the esters. Very slick-oily, burning MF, good carbonation, alcoholheat. Medium to well-bodied. Expressly "strong" and expressly "Belgian". Result... too sweet and too agressive to be really enjoyable. Sipping ale, but enjoyment on the lowish side.

Medium, cream-coloured head, fine & dense, over cloudy reddish-brown beer. Serious yeastload at the end of the bottle. Alcohol, liqueur, preserved orange, some fresh herbs. Smells already heavy... Alcohol in force; sweet-liqueurish with a certain depth. Raisins, preserved plums, preserved oranges on alcohol, dried figs, overripe banana (especially in the finish). There’s an awfull lot of sweetness, syrupy it is, but it avoids cloying. Ferocious alcoholheat, even more than 15% would warrant; Viscously slick, near chewy; yet well-carbonated; Well, I certainly like it; I was tempted to substract a point for the utterly silly name - I won’t even start on the grammatical! - but I refrained. Jeez, all the same.

Clear orange to amber beer, irregular creamy off-white head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of banana, sweet and sugary, caramel, cognac aroma's. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: very sweet and sugary, lots of alcohol, bit spicy, banana. Aftertaste: lots of alcohol, sugary, banana, pretty bitter, hoppy. A bit one dimensional for a barrel aged beer. Also I am wondering: how long has this beer been in the barrel? Part of the barrel ageing is the "ageing" on it's own. Since most of these White Pony beers just hit the market, I suppose they haven't been much longer on a barrel than a month or 2, maybe 3?

Near-black red-brown beer under a huge brown-tan head; pouring a tad viscous. Roasted, sweetish roasted nuts, tad mineral nose. Burnt grain, molasses, just a touch of chocolate and coffee. Bitter-roasted. Dark malts in abundance, restsugar tries vainly to get through in the background. Chocolate, dark and mild combined, roasted crusts. Good balance. Thick, rich, viscous, warming, good carbonation. It remains indeed quite drinkable, as the label claims. Ah! I’m not overly impressed by most White Pony beers tried so far, but this is not one to leave standing!

Sehr dunkel braune Farbe, mittelgroße bräunliche schaumkrone. Geruch sehr rauchig, torfig, dunkles malz. Geschmack torfig, röstmalzig süß, Kleber, alkoholisch.

Yellowish-cream head, fast reduced to rim over hazy cola-coloured beer. Sweet smell; dark, but sweetened bread, as well as a spice I can’t place (halfway between coriander and rosemary, with some liquorice thrown into). Also the smell from the green of carrots. Very sweet-spiced, with a light roasted toffee touch. Solidified, a slice would do well with the X-mas cheese platter, but a full loaf, sorry, bottle is really tough. Medium bodied at least, slick; even cloying into the aftertaste; Well-carbonated. I hazard the strong language on the label must make this beer?

Small snowwhite head, fast gone over veiled pale amber beer with a verdigris sheen; finely carbonated. Spiced nose, wheat, coriander, banana, sourdough. Bitter with sweet alcohol vying for supremacy. Preserved orangepeel, again bitter and sweet, orangepeel on liqueur, Mandarine Napoléon. Quite slick, oily MF; rather well-bodied. Long-lasting, but no new flavours in the aftertaste; alcoholheat. Surprisingly good - let’s keep diplomatic about the nose. Seen its origins and the gimmicky label and its blurb, I’m rather relieved about the result.
