Description
It all started with a neighbor sharing a homemade beer. Liz saw how excited Jamil was and bought him a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. Jamil became obsessed with brewing the perfect beer and became a homebrew legend in the process by winning a first-place medal in every known beer, mead, and cider style category. Eventually, his passion to brew was too strong and Jamil and Liz decided to take the plunge and open Heretic Brewing Company.
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 25 Aug 2018) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with strawberries, lemon and hints of raspberries. Fruity, slightly tart taste with notes of lemon, strawberries, red berries and a fresh acidity in the finish. Medium body, dry. Fresh and tasty. Quite enjoyable.

Golden color. Crisp grassy hoppy nose with slight underlying sweetness with excellent toasted malt character. Mouth is more bitter and crisp than I would expect for a helles, but so well balanced with the hops and malt just shining. Refreshing and super drinkable. I thought this was a fantastic beer.

Tap at Cap Hop. Pours dark brown with a coppery tinge on the edges. Aroma is first bourbon, then dark malt and then quite noticeable Elderberry. Med plus body. Flavor is somewhat woody/sour/tart with bourbon, dark malt and quite noticeable Elderberry. Wasn’t expecting the sour/tart, but it works well. Seems to have a touch of something hot as well. Intriguing stuff. Very nice.

Super clear golden and peach coloured body with an orange glow and a thinnish, pure white head, about two centimetres tall. Aroma of honey, pure resin, pineapple, alcohol, a heavy hand of malts with a lot grasses as well, very nice in the nose and showing a ton of character. Medium to Full-bodied; Super rich malty flavour with a lot of honey, grain, resin, pineapple, yeast, caster sugar and ending with a lot of tropical fruit hoppiness, especially to combine with the large alcohol vibe. Aftertaste shows the grain, alcohol, resin, pine, pineapple, tropical fruits and malt with a nice yeast complexity, especially at the end. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA with a great complex hoppy flavour with the tropical fruits, pine and good deal of resin throughout, all with a perfect malt backbone. Great to sample, especially where good beer isn't so easy to find! I sampled this 16 ounce, pint-sized can purchased from Kona Wine Market in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i [island] on 29-December-2018 for US$8,00 sampled here in my hotel room in central Kona, Hawai'i island on 03-January-2019, a day before returning to the East Coast.

Tap at Cap Hop. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Gingerbread aroma. Body is a bit thinner than expected. Flavor is gingerbread. A decent version. However, I could appreciate a higher level of ginger, and a bit more malt flavor and body. Still, tho, it deserves appreciation for being a gingerbread beer.

Can poured out into a snifter milky yellow light orange with a foamy off white head. Light fresh fruity citrusy aromas and flavors. A thin sting in the hops bitter bite. Light and tasty

at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit, Bangkok. Poured a clear dark reddish amber with a mostly lasting thin white head. The aroma is yeast, bready, molasses, big blackcurrant. The flavour is moderate to light sour with a fresh, crisp, yeast, tart blackcurrant fruit palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
