About
Based in the heart of Stockport for almost two centuries, and owning around 260 tenanted and managed pubs, inns and hotels across the North West, ‘Robinsons’ is one of oldest and most respected names in British brewing history.

Robinsons took over Hartleys brewery in 1982, closing down the Ulverston plant in 1994 and transferring the Hartley brands to the Unicorn brewery. Robinsons bought the rights to the Ward brands in 2006 but subsequently sold some of those brands to Maxim Beer Co.

Sorry to break the status quo, but mine comes in a 500 ml, mostly black can and was purchased at Mr.T’s locally. I prefer to use an 8th Wonder Brewery shaker to drink out of on this nice, fall evening. I determine a shiny copper body completed by a decent head of parchment foam. The smell is grain, caramel, malt and field. The taste is much the same but less of the caramel sweetness and a small inclusion of astringency. A pitch down the middle of the plate.

Clear straw coloured with a bubbly white head and a slightly grassy and fruity nose. Crisp and fresh, bitter up front with lemony notes and a dry finish

Clear amber gold with a creamy off-white head and a malty nose. It's malty, a tad fruity and a little bitter, with of course the quirky Robinsons flavour profile popping its head up.

Crystal clear golden coloured body with a very thick, pure white head that fades pretty quickly. Aroma of light grain, a dash of lager yeast, some bread and lemons with very little else aside from metallic astringency. Light-bodied; Sharp pungent grainy and metallic flavours dominate with a lot of grass and hay notes with little else, aside from some flowers and lemons and more bitterness, this time from the light alcohol which is here. Aftertaste is crisp and fairly easy-drinking with only the light grass and grainy notes with very little else, and a touch of the alcohol and metal towards the end. Overall, not such a great beer, as expected, but when it's available, and cheap and there aren't many alternatives, this isn't a horrible option. Decent to get at least now while in South America! I sampled this 500 mL can, purchased from Jumbo [supermarket] here in central Santiago, Chile for CLP 1,279 on 09-August-2022, on my thirteenth wedding anniversary with my wife and three kids, sampled a day later on the streets of Santiago, Chile on 10-August-2022.
