Sweet, citrus fruity aroma with matching taste. Pale amber with no head. Honey sweet flavor but almost no hops.

Pale golden beer with a white head smells malty and of some hops tasts malty ,of some hops. Bittersweet aftertaste.

Not impressed with this one. It is just another typical commercial lager. Not much aroma, not much taste.

Bottle 250ml.Clear light to medium amber colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, caramel, malt extract, spicy, vegetables. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20120330]

Green 330ml bottle with a best before date of 30 June 09, drank April 09. Poured into a stemmed ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ glass. Very pale golden yellow with next too no head even though I poured it vigorously. What bit of foam did arrive didn’t stay one iota of a second. A freshly opened tin of Cornbeef was the smell I got, then a weak yeast aroma, strange combination I thought? Almost tasteless, a really thin yeasty flavour hides behind a dry cardboard nasty tinny hint. I had to open some cheese to help me finish the beer, a lesser man would have thrown it away, but I’m made of stronger stuff and refuse to waste beer, no matter how poor it is. Expensive crap! When you look at the ABV of other beers within this style you can see this is a rip-off watered down version playing on the name. I have found some really good French beers over the years, this however isn’t one of them. I should have known when I saw who imported it. Coors!

Green 330ml bottle, poured into a ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ stemmed tulip glass. Best before end of Mar 2010, drank mid Dec 2009. Looked like a big glass of Rose wine, but with a small white head sat on top. ’Lager brewed with fruit and blackcurrent extracts’ claims the label. Had trouble smelling anything to be honest, some blackcurrent maybe, but mostly because the label put that idea in my head. Delicate flavours, but not enough depth or strenght to make the beer interesting, not even enough difference to differentiate betwen other lager styles and tastes. Close your eyes and it is a boring lager/pilsner without anything to say apart from a slightly blackcurrent, blackberry hint in the aftertaste. My second beer in this style (the other being this beers sister) and I am not impressed. The two I’ve had are on the weaker and cheaper side of the style, so maybe I’m being unfair?
