Description
Founded as ‘Eastwood and Sanders Fine Ales’ in 2002, after the amalgamation of The West Yorkshire Brewery and The Barge and Barrel Brewing Company, we renamed as Elland Brewery in 2006 and have been trading under that banner ever since.

We are proud to be a proper, independent, traditional micro-brewery. We’re a small team (currently ten and a half people!) and we’re involved in every aspect of running a busy brewery, we all get our hands dirty helping out in racking, delivering, filling the vans, cleaning, loading the spent grain for our local farmer Dickie to feed his cattle…you’d be surprised at what a normal day involves!

A beautifully presented golden ale with a thick creamy head, and a floral and slightly citrus aroma. The mouthfeel is a little grainy, which the light biscuit malt cuts through nicely, along with citrus notes and a hint of tropical fruit. Has a lovely hop bitterness that carries on into the finish.

11/10/2020. Cask at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Havenstreet. Pours mahogany brown with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, ash. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Roasty finish with some banana developing. Beer of the festival for me.

[Summer Breeze] Golden ale with a frothy white head, and a malty, floral aroma - this is a decent light biscuit malt pale ale, with a nice floral and slightly fruity flavour profile, a smooth mouthfeel and a light malty finish

Cask at Petersgate Tap, Stockport Have had this beer many a time before, but never got around to rating it. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a large cream head and good lacing. Nose is predominantly dark fruits with some roast malts. Mainly dark fruits again in the mouth, but liquorice, chocolate and toffee are there if you search for them. A dry malty finish to round things off. This is an excellent beer – dangerously drinkable for its strength !

Calderdale Beer Festival 2019, Halifax. Black and smooth with the rum barrel wood ageing quite light, but significant enough to change its taste. Its strength is also evident.

Calderdale Beer Festival 2019, Halifax. Its barrel ageing is very evident and there’s lots of wood in both aroma and taste to this black ale. This usurps the cherry, which is also evident in both aroma and taste. The sum of these parts combine to subdue any sweetness.

Cask @ Royal Oak Halifax. Very dark with a thick creamy head. It’s certainly milky and is not too stated as a stout but remains flavoursome.
