440ml can. Murky reddy-brown colour with a big beige head. Aroma of orange, citrus peel, caramel, and unusually floral. Taste of big citrus, orange, grapefruit peel, biscuit and caramel malts, piney resin, strong lingering bitterness, slight perfumey/floral note as well though which I let it down a bit. Excellent body, very full especially for the strength.

On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal beige head and medium carbonation. There’s roasted malts and chocolate in the aroma plus hints of biscuits. In the mouth it is decidedly sweet. Initial flavours are roasted malts, chocolate, cake and dark fruits. Later on traces of bitterness, spice and cola come through leading to a slightly fruity finish. This is reasonable – but not very exciting.
