My first ommegang in 5 years, wish Belgian styles were more popular! Creamy honey caramel sweet and dry notes. Easy drinking for its abv.

Notes from June 2009 Growler fill from Community Beverage. Poured into my Ommegang chalice. Jug flips open, just barely exhaling. Half inch of oatmeal-ish colored head over an ebony/amber-colored brew. Smells of cherry pits, then cranberries, then lemon-lime & some apple skins, with just little bit of wood & varnish in there. Taste is of cherry juice, Granny Smith tartness, raspberry/kiwi-ish tang, wooden spoon, & just a touch of wheat & bitter/iron-y greens. Light on the vinegar, with plenty of juicy, lip coating residuals. Just barely nicking the top of the fence & falling back into play. The carbonation sizzles just a bit. Body has the texture of juice. The alcohol rubs off a little like cough syrup. I've personally drank near two gallons of this stuff over the course of an evening. The only thing ever holding me back with this one is the price. :)

Notes from June 2010 Bottle via Stop & Shop. It was cheaper then usual. I'm suspicious. No print in the best by date area. 750 poured into my Rare Vos tumbler. Left most of the yeast cake on the bottom. Yay for me. Body is an ever so slightly stirred, amber/orange color, with an inch of slightly yellowed, wispy head. Smells sort of like unripened pears, Kaiser rolls, a bit of pine, & sticky beer residue. Honey bread crust, a little green grape sweetness, & pepper stand out most. Cereal grains, salt, mild yeast, muted orange rind bitterness, & a touch of alcohol burn. Mild bittersweet grain finish. Yeasty sediment makes it feel somewhat creamy, though the carbonation is a touch strong. 6.5% ABV feels about right. Probably tied for my least favorite Ommagang Beer(along with the Witte). I don't think it deserves the big bottle treatment or the pricetag, as it's just an everyday so-so amber in a flooded market. Though even then, it seems it gets a decent score from me.

Notes from September 2012 Single from Whole Foods. Duvel Tulip. Finally letting me split things up & buy singles. :D Creamy, lathery head. Hazed, orange amber body. Smell is all about oats & must. A slight twang in there too. Frothy, beaded, tight carbonation. Taste has sort of a Euro metallic thing going on. Toasty/grainy sweetness. Dull malt. Cheerios, & moderately sharp, pithy hops. Boring yeast. Earth. Dusty, dry finish. Missing something. Seems more like a Bière de Garde, but it's not tasty enough for me to care if the listing gets revisited.

Juicy! Hazy / cloudy gold with a frothy white head. A touch too fizzy perhaps, but it’s fruity on the nose and fruity on the tongue, with a dollop of hop bitterness to bring you back down

2024 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a glowing orange gold with a finger of fluffy white foam that dissipates. Clove, ginger and cinnamon notes on the nose with Belgian yeast character and candi sugar as it warms. Palate is very similar with some gingerbread notes and more candi sugar and spiced cake that lingers. A great Belgian-style strong ale with a winter warmer American twist.

On tap in the America area of Epcot. Dull, orange color, with a small, off-white head. The aroma is grapefruit, rose, juniper, hay, and lemon zest. Dry and earthy, with a bright, sharp bitterness. Medium body, biting, and lingering. Quality, subtle, and tasty.
