Notes from 12/30/16 On tap at Cardiff Giant. The pinball machines seem so out of place here. Wine glass pour. Hazy dark brown body, whispy, fleeting head. Smell is big with berries & almost burnt bread. Taste is strong, sharply toasted malt upfront, with a whimpering of pepper, burnt bitterness & yeast down the back. It doesn't hide it's abv either. Sticky, thin texture. I can almost say it's tasty, but it became difficult. Thanks. :-)

House yeast and open air fermentation? Hard to believe the second part. It doesn’t have any of the funk I associate with open air fermentation.. Anyway, there’s spicy yeast and bready malt in the aroma. The well balanced flavor is malty with characteristic Belgian yeast and a lightly dry finish. Fairly good.

16oz can from Hops & Bottle. Hazy yellow pour, big head at first, but quickly settles. Faint citrus aroma, grapefruit, lemon. Taste is mellow citrus, more of the grapefruit and lemon, hint of pineapple. I was expecting a bit more.

Pour is a orange with a large white head and tons of floaties. Aroma is I get the triple yeast and sugar but there is also an orange peel. Flavor is orange peel and lime zest but this is way too sweet. White sugar on the tongue with a little ester left over. I didn't hate it but I also did not love it. It's a sweeter average tripel.

Bottle. Pours clear light straw with big, stable white head. Clear aroma of fruit ad flowers, with touches of yeast and hops. Bitter, hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of fruit and floral touches, as well as hints of malt and yeast. Spicy aftertaste with notes of malt and estery touches. Warming alcohol presence. Decent.

Bottle, 8%. Peppery aroma. Clear golden colour. Big stable white head. The flavour is malty, bready, sugary, bitter. Not as light-bodied as some tripels, and not flowery or with vanilla, but very decent.

From backlog, generally on draught at Deep Ellum, Sunset Grille or other places around Boston, upon release in 2009 and after (but probably haven't had one since 2010 or so. Clear, well-carbonated, brass-bronze. Big, white head, slowly falling to cover. Citrus and lightly spicy phenols in the nose with ample malts adding honey and biscuit. Clean. Malty in the mouth, not too much so, with good attenuation and plentiful spicy hop and spicy phenol. Not too crude, not clovey. Some lingering citrus character with more biscuit and a hint of light pine.
