Description
Warped Wing Brewing Company·Friday, February 7, 2020·
Warped Wing Brewing Co. is a craft brewery inspired by Dayton's rich history of innovation and invention. We are committed to carrying that spirit forward in today's craft beer scene by brewing new proprietary beer styles and our own "warped" interpretations. We also focus on creating unique seasonal and specialty beers.

We have a full-scale production brewery in the heart of downtown Dayton in the site of the old Buckeye Brass & Iron Foundry circa 1938. We brew and distribute our beers to local restaurants, bars, grocery and retailers in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo markets. Our Taproom also features a full service kitchen.

In addition to distributing our beers, we have an industrial style Taproom where guests can sample our various beer offerings while appreciating views of the downtown skyline or the cathedral of stainless steel. If you are on-the-go, we sell growlers, package beer and kegs to share with friends off-site.

Bottle. A- Roasty, char, cocoa, faint smoke. A- Black color, dark liquid, brown head. T- Roasty, malt, mild smoke, woodsy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- A little underwhelming but good. Smoke is pretty mild and an honestly pretty generic tasting porter. Solid beer but just not a show stopper.

Cloudy golden with a white head. Light citrus notes and some potential pine. Hefty bitterness. Medium bodied. Easy going yet flavorful with a good bitter bite.

Bottle. A- Bourbon, oak, tangy. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head. T- Tangy, earthy, leather, green apple. P- Full body, average texture, medium carbonation, unbalanced finish. O- Strong oak tang, but no coffee or bourbon flavor. Not even getting much of the listed flavor profiles. Fear this has been infected. Unfortunate.

Can. A- Almond bark, chocolate. A- Brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Almond bark, chocolate, roasty, mild sweetness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Wasn't too impressed with the 2020 release and with this being a brown ale I wasn't hoping for much. The almond bark is legit and it all works well. Not bad at all!

Bottle. A- Allspice, clove, nutmeg, gourds, port. A- Brown color, dark liquid, minimal head. T- Port, allspice, mild booze, faint bitterness, dark fruit, subtle coffee grounds. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, vinous finish. O- Really good, but wanted more pumpkin. Not sure whether the port adds or detracts here. Would like to try the original or rum barrel to compare.

Fairly hazy (around twenty five per cent) opaque golden and yellow coloured body without any head at all - literally a thin layer that fades after a few seconds and leaves nothing else - pretty sad looking throughout, actually. Aroma of light pickles, cucumbers, salt, brine, lemons and a faint dose of wheats and light malts and a mild touch of sweetness, with some funky notes, but nothing too strong or pungent, at least in the nose. Light-bodied; Strong super sweet and pungently, cloyingly funky caster sugar sweetness that doesn't seem right that fades immediately to a pungent salt, brine and off-putting artificial cucumber and vegetable flavour right away. Aftertaste shows a lot of sweetness, almost a cloying amount of odd, unnatural sugars that show the caster sugars and a mellow tartness, but the funky pickle-like (not just plain cucumber) flavour at the end is the strongest and most off-putting, compared to the other flavours that this could have actually been. Overall, a pretty sad beer and one that misses the mark almost entirely - way too sweet and pungent with a funky pickle (not cucumber) flavour throughout and a lot of salty notes that show a bit more than brine here. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Kroger in Dayton, Ohio on 10-August-2021 for US$1,87 sampled at my house here in Washington on 03-October-2021.

Draft. A- Hershey's chocolate bars, subtle coffee. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Hershey's milk chocolate, mocha, espresso, whisky, almonds, vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Outstanding. This is decadent chocolate with enough espresso to add a nice roasty and bitter depth and enough barrel to remind you of what's lurking around the corner. Beautifully done. Really wish there were bottles of this.
