On tap at HopCat, pours a hazy golden with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dank cat piss hops, with biscuity malt and pine. Flavour is along the same lines, with piney hops, some citrus and biscuity malt. Lots of dry hops on the finish, with no residual sweetness. Nice stuff.

On tap at HopCat, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out roasted malt and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is along the same lines, with heaps of roasted malt and a fair degree of hoppiness. Nicely balanced and highly drinkable for the style. Very good.

Found this can upon my return to the in-laws this holiday season. I must have left it here last time we were in town. I won’t dock it points if it tastes a bit old. Black with a deep tan head. Cocoa, resinous hops, coffee, earthy, light citrus beyond the rest. Medium bodied. Dry, harshly bitter finish. A nice BIPA. STILL, I’m glad this fade seems to have passed us by.

Pours lightly hazy medium golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big cranberries, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, orange zest, walnuts, vanilla, light pepper/pine, lightly toasted bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity hops, cranberries, vanilla, walnut, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big cranberries, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, orange zest, walnuts, vanilla, light pepper/pine, lightly toasted bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus zest, grassy, spicy bitterness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of cranberries, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, orange zest, walnuts, vanilla, light pepper/pine, lightly toasted bread, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, cranberries, vanilla, walnut, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious fruited/spiced American pale ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, cranberries, vanilla, walnut, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful for the low ABV. The fruit/vanilla complements the Pilgrim hops perfectly. Walnuts complement the bready Munich malts. A very unique and enjoyable offering. It all works very well together.

Aromas of lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, red apple, juniper, spruce, berry, ginger, melon, white wine, gin, oak, hay, straw, mint, and grass; with light notes of honey, cracker, white bread, oaken vanilla, pepper, musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, spices, gin barrel, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, red apple, juniper, spruce, berry, ginger, melon, white wine, gin, oak, hay, straw, mint, and grass; with light notes of honey, cracker, white bread, oaken vanilla, pepper, musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy bitterness, tartness, and yeast/oak/ginger/juniper spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, pear, red apple, juniper, spruce, berry, ginger, melon, white wine, gin, oak, hay, straw, mint, grass, cracker, white bread, oaken vanilla, pepper, musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky yeast, spices, gin barrel, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tart/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/tart/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/sticky/acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Mildly increasing ginger heat through the glass. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged/spiced experimental Kolsch style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky yeast, spices, gin barrel, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the mildly tart/bitter/spicy/drying finish. More of a Brett wild ale than a Kolsch. Not much malt presence. Nice fruity Brett complexity with balanced gin barrel/spices. Nothing overwhelming. A very enjoyable and unique offering.
