Description
For us, good living means exploring – the opposite of “comfortable.” It’s not just about craft, but about questing, questioning, transforming “What If” into “Here’s How,” by way of an experiment so crazy, it just might work.

Exploration is the line from local beer maker to World-Class Brewer. It’s a pioneer impulse, and it sets the authentic, rural heartbeat of Southern Tier. It’s how we got here. And by the time others catch up, it’ll be why we’re already somewhere else.

From our wildly innovative founder, Phin DeMink, who’s still a daily inspiration, to the new generation of brewers, thinkers, and drinkers who share our pursuit of what’s next, we keep honing the creative edge of brewing discovery.

So this is an open invitation, to anyone who gives a damn about the difference between a well-crafted beer and a stunningly satisfying encounter with the new. Join us on the road less traveled.

With warm weather approaching (~75 today in Oxford) and leaving (highs in the 40s Saturday), the beer mood shifts from stouts, porters, and belgians to american pale ales and wheat beers. This pale ale hits the spot. Pours a clear amber orange with a thin off-white head. Nice, classic APA aroma with grassy, earthy, floral hops. These are abundant in the flavor as well, and the biscuity malt body provides just the right amount of balance. There is a hint of lemon too. Finishes with a piney bitterness. A clean, solid APA that doesn't push too many boundaries but definitely satisfies. Thanks Dan (jah noth)!

Poured a clear copper color with a thin off-white head. Grassy hops aroma with a touch of sweet caramel. Flavor begins almost like a pilsener or other lager with grassy hops and a cerealy flavor, but hidden beneath that veneer are abundant citrusy, piney hops and caramel/brown sugar malt. There is definitely interesting hops interplay here, but the beer overall was too thin and the malt was present but somewhat muddled. Thanks Dan (jah noth) for the bottles!

Cloudy amber, lasting beige head.Grapefruit hop nose.A hint of malt at start, then all grapefruit hops with a long finish. Decent body and good Belgian lace. Speaking of one who lives in the area of great northwest IPAs, this one isn't too bad at all. Thanks to Cap Flu for this.As it warms, the malt comes out

Golden-ruby colour. Appetizing C-hop aroma with toasty, caramelly malts, lemon, and chocolate chip cookie dough. The palate is wonderfully balanced between floral, citric hops and a complex maltiness where toasty porter-like notes play off of toffeeish English Strong Ale ones. They aren't re-inventing the wheel with this beer, but with balance like this it's pretty clear they're coming close to perfecting the wheel.

Slightly toasty pale malts in the aroma. Hint of herbal hops. Hit of bitterness crosses the palate quickly, but fades, leaving the impression of a beer lighter than it really was.

Nice beer. Had it last night on tap in Busti, NY. Nice, golden/amber color, small head. Faint alcohol smell, not too much. Taste... very interesting. A bit bitter and dry, slightly peppery almost. Finished nice and smooth. Definitely drinkable, but was more expensive than other beers, and I was running low on cash, so I only had one for the tasting value. It was worth it.

Price paid: $6.99/6-pack (12 oz bottles) BEAUTIFUL burnt orange/ or orange/amber, witha nice fluffy orange/tan head. This beer smells f-ing good... not just good, but f-ing good. Nice, sweet floral/fruit scent perfectly compliements the beauty of the color. It makes me want to eat peaches and apricots, and oooh yum. Jeez, this beer is just getting better and better! (I’m reviewing as I’m sampling it). FANTASTIC bittersweet flavor, with peach and grapefruit in there, with a nice bitter bite to finish it off. Does it get better than this?? Wow... I am really really impressed with this beer. And I only have to drive a few hours to get it. A+

Darker amber colour with a dense off-white head of medium height. Aroma of strong grapefruity, piney and floral hops (odd for the season, but regardless), some chocolate, roasted malt and a bit of sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Sweet initial flavour of deep dark pit fruits with the addition of strong hops and a well-balanced malt presence. Aftertaste is fairly clean for the hop aroma, not offensive at all, but a bit of the sweetness creeps through and takes a break on your palate. Very nice to try this one out! I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it very fresh on 16-December-2003.

Orange, bright. Whispy white head. Aroma is lightish, but reveals chinooky, (or Centennial) notes (currany hops). Toasty flavour. Some sweet apricot notes. hint of wood, currant.
