Description
At DESTIHL, we brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing & because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. Cheers!
DESTIHL was founded on the promise of supporting flavor and boycotting bland. We're an independent, production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. Our team combines centuries-old global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate. We brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing and because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland, from our award-winning WiLD SOUR Series, barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales and Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout, to our many Belgian-style beers, IPA's, other wood-aged beers, classic styles and exciting seasonals. DESTIHL has become a brand, but we have not strayed from our roots. We take pride in our values and will continue to grow and support our local community. We promise to deliver on these uncompromising beliefs. Every beer we brew is unique. So, whether you share it or hoard it, we hope you enjoy it. After all, you deserve it.

Bottle - Light bready farmhouse notes, horse blanket and a acidity. Clear gold with a rich white head. Bready, funky and light acidity. Odd woody, earthy and fruity notes that are hard to describe. An interesting one to be sure.

Bottle. Chocolate fudge, hay, and bourbon aroma. Black with small tan head. Sweet chocolate malt, herbal hay, and strong bourbon flavor. Slight alcohol harshness in the finish but really not as much as expected. Very tasty.

12oz can. Pretty respectable IPA. Filtered looking orange body. Foamy, steady off-white head. Bright, zesty orange, citrus tones. At the end of the say a pretty standard American IPA, updated for 2015. OK.

Sample at Giant Eagle Grandview. This beer pours a pinkish-red color with a medium fizzy pinkish-white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Lots of raspberry in the nose along with some spice and wheat. Light-bodied with a tart raspberry character and notes of funky yeast and herbal wheat. The finish is moderately sour with a lingering raspberry aftertaste. Well-executed Berliner Weiss all around.

Can: Dark copper with a tall, tan head. Aroma is caramel, breadheel.... Taste is sticky, piney, caramel malt... Oily, woody hopping.... Very malty.....thick-feeling.... Overload is a good descriptor for this one.
