Description
At DESTIHL, we brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing & because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. Cheers!

DESTIHL was founded on the promise of supporting flavor and boycotting bland. We're an independent, production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. Our team combines centuries-old global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate. We brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing and because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland, from our award-winning WiLD SOUR Series, barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales and Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout, to our many Belgian-style beers, IPA's, other wood-aged beers, classic styles and exciting seasonals. DESTIHL has become a brand, but we have not strayed from our roots. We take pride in our values and will continue to grow and support our local community. We promise to deliver on these uncompromising beliefs. Every beer we brew is unique. So, whether you share it or hoard it, we hope you enjoy it. After all, you deserve it.

Draft pour at the Pine Box. Pours a clear copper color with very little head. I love the beers with a small story to it. Reading that this was aged for about 800 days. Crazy! I hadnt even started drinking beer when this was in the barrel aging. Definitely makes this beer unique to me. Flavor has a sour green apple like flavor with a heavy lingering sour taste. Really nice sour. Enjoyed this.

Tap at Uber Tavern, Seattle. Colour is cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, spices, pepper, some berries, sweetness, Belgian yeast and malts. Hard to believe 11.2% abv but sweetness covers it perhaps. Not very drinkable. Actually this is total mess and very hard to drink.

50cl bottle pours with a near clear deep red to amber body that supports a thin light tan head. The aroma starts with modest yet thick sweet malts and then it quickly brings up sticky molasses covered warm dates and then prunes and dried brown sugar covered cherries. The end of the draw is met with a fairly firm booziness. The taste begins smooth and sweet with malts for a brief moment before tangy date, cherry and prune fruity sweetness over whelms the experience. To midway it gets a tad hot and a tad peppery amid the sludgy swirls of dark fruity sweetness and molasses notes. Decent Quad. It would be fun if it conjured up a bit of earthiness to help compliment all the dark fruity sweetness. Although I do enjoy the nearly nectar like fruity esters that murmur to the surface every now and then it comes up a tad short.
