DESTIHL was founded on the promise of supporting flavor and boycotting bland. We're an independent, production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. Our team combines centuries-old global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate. We brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing and because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland, from our award-winning WiLD SOUR Series, barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales and Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout, to our many Belgian-style beers, IPA's, other wood-aged beers, classic styles and exciting seasonals. 12 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a crystal clear orange-bronze color with a khaki head and good retention. Not much lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Sweet caramel malt flavor with a light hop bite in the finish. Full bodied. Crisp yet slick mouthfeel. Light bitterness. Good beer.
Draft at Tap & Bottle Tucson. Crystal clear golden hellow color scant head. Apple pie in aroma and taste, aourness in subtle. Pales in comparison to the New Glarus version which will forever lead the pack.
12oz can at Hops & Bottles. Cloudy golden pour, non-existent head. Aroma is pickle brine. Taste, yup...pickle brine. Dill and cucumber notes detectable. Quite a nice pucker.
Hazy and pale. It's got a nice weedy note, not super bright hops, but light pale malt base. Moderate bitterness. I like the base, even if the hops are super expressive.
473mL can, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Nose has a lot of dusty hops, earthiness, and bready malt. Flavour is earthy, with dusty hops -- they tasted faded despite this only being 2 months old -- with a bready malt base. 83 IBUs? The hops seem faded and lacking punch. Pretty lacklustre.
Can from BCL; canned 08/03/23 Pale blond colour, cloudy. Aroma of tropical fruit, sweet citrus, and mild dankness. Lean mouthfeel, just the right residual sweetness, and very little starch; the hop is juicy, mostly sweet orange, with accents of tropical fruit; a bit of pith gives the required bitter balance. Very good; I don't know how old this is, I feel that when fresher it would be even better.
16oz @ Alex's. Appearance: cloudy blonde with a white head. Aroma: dank and fruity, a bit sharp. Taste: along the same lines, sharpie, good body Overall: good, not amazing, but a decent product.
