Month old can A: Finely hazed pale yellow gold with some fine sediment and a short smooth head, leaving thin clingy lace. S: Fresh baked bread with a little citrus and light sweetness. T: Bread notes are much more toasty. Bitter hops bring light citrus pith and pine. M: Soft but prickly carbonation, light body and smooth texture. O: Well balanced, approachable and very tasty.

Draft at the Denver taproom - inky black - deep notes of molasses, coffee, dark fruit, brown sugar - notes of cherry skin and strongly tannic notes - some acidity at the end, but nothing I would characterize as sour - it's got enough heft and complexity to be a sipper, but is not over the top - I dig it.

Well. Imperial Stout from Crooked Stave and it's on the sour side. No surprise. Still that kind of beer as sour is to me not the best. Furthermore I'm not a huge molasses fan in beer. There is some roast and coffee in there along with some dark malt.
