Crooked Stave brewery is known for their brewing specialty in Brettanomyces fermentations and barrel-aged sour and wild ales. Crooked Stave Brewing Company is home to some of the finest sour beers. (Can) Pinkish golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with raspberries, blueberries, blood orange, oak wood, hay and roses. Fruity, tart taste with notes of oak wood, barnyard, raspberries, blueberries, roses, blood orange and a light touch of apple cider vinegar. Hardly any bitterness. Light body, dry. Tasty and refreshing, with a generous woody acidity. Very nice.

What was this rare 750ml bottle (#226/240) doing in the bargain bin at a local liquor store in Indiana? I have no idea, but I got it cheap. Pours hazy orangish with a small light tan head. It smells funky with citrus and malt. The flavor is quite tart, but there’s enough sweetness to keep it from being overwhelming. The bourbon is not immediately obvious, but it comes through. The 12% abv is pretty buried. There are lots of citrusy flavors with the wild yeast and caramel. This is a pretty old bottle though I can’t find a date on it. It’s holding up well.

2017, courtesy of either Zhenya or Hookstar I guess, really glad to try it! Cherry dominates the aroma, tart, acetic, with touches of glue. Lean taste, cherries, light walnuts and a nice woody touch, but the sourness, acetic, is way too excessive, it was hard to find enjoyment here despite some pleasant aspects, sadly, maybe past its prime.

Canned, huge thanks HP! Hazy apricot body, off-white head. Creamy, bretty, flowery, oaky, berry aroma. Lean, light, soooft taste, lotsa berries, blueberries mostly seemingly, light sourish kick. Simply a well made simple sour that's actually not as simple as it feels!

Pint can. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a massive white head that last and leaves crazy lacing. The aroma is strong with mixed citrus--perhaps grapefruit and mango--and a bit of sawdust. The taste is dominated by mixed tropical fruits, and filling in the sides and back is grainy breads and crackers. Bitterness is relatively mild. The palate is light, but not thin or watery, and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long and dry with lingering grapefruit. Overall: Decent brewski--definitely a good ambassador of the hazy IPA style. This went down easy. Paired well with some Murray's sharp white cheddar.
