About
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

From the bottle. Gold with a foamy white head with below average retention. Aroma is a mix of herbs and metals. Taste is mildly metallic bitter with a lightly peppery and somewhat off sour note at the end. Body is medium, carbonation is moderate but fades sooner than average. Overall it has very little going for it.

20-01-18 // 330ml bottle. Pours a bright alien green coloured beer. Small white foamy head. Nose is slightly sourish with woodruff. Taste is not as sweet as expected, mild tartness, mild herbal woodruff notes. Actually not that bad.

Tap. Meisterstück, Mitte, Berlin. Clear, pale gold. White head dissipates to a film. Nose has standard sweet grain, and leafy hop, but stepped up a gear due to how fresh is smells. Taste is a little dry, and a little bitter. Minimal sweetness. Light body. Crisp fizz. Some sweetness coming through at the end.

Many thanks for this beer to Mariusz.

If you like rhubarb….then this one is for you. Otherwise you better find something else. It really had a lovely and pleasant mellow rhubarb flavor. Also a mild mellow sweetness. Not the usual acidity. Nice refreshing stuff. I guess that many will not call it a beer.
