About
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Can at home in Beer Hawk advent calendar. Quite a lurid colour in the glass and no real head. The taste was a typical pilsner done in a macro style with the typical flavours and mouthfeel. This was really poor and the worst so far in the box. I followed it up with a Fuller's London Porter and felt much better.

Bottle. Brownish black with a decent head. Mild aroma of roasted malts. Taste is malts, liquorice, dark bread and metal. Too sweet and the finishing bitterness feels like an afterthought. Medium carbonation. Watery. Can't really see this to ever be nominated for the Schwarzbier Hall of Fame.

Bottle. Dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of malts, red fruits and Coca Cola. Taste is very sweet upfront, malty, fruity with a little bit of liquorice, some chocolate and Coca Cola again. Bitter aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Despite my rather low rating I kind of enjoyed it and probably would drink this quite regularly if I was living in Berlin.

Bottle at LKS. It pours clear golden - amber with a small white head. The aroma is hooker perfume, paint, oily, grainy, buttered white bread, toffee and popcorn. The taste is drying, hot, oily, paper, perfumed, pear, apple, melon, wet grass, damp leaves, honey and cheap white bread. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty hot and sweet. Pretty poor.

Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to Fergus. Pours clear, bright honey-gold with a creamy, white head. Papery notes in the nose, dried grains, cereal. Light-medium sweet flavour with crispy grains, biscuits, a little hay, toasted caramel. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more grains, pale bread, dry and crispy cereal, hints of alcohol warmth. Not bad.

Barwa słomkowa, zamglone, piana biała, dość obfita, umiarkowanie trwała. W aromacie kiszonka, nieco kanalizy, ale do przejścia. W smaku wytrawne, kwaśność umiarkowana z plusem. Czuć lakto, kiszonkę, cierpkość, pszenny charakter. Ciało i wysycenie w normie, świetna pijalność. Klasyka, aromat nieco poprawić i będzie świetnie.
