Description
Hogs Back Brewery was founded in 1992 in Tongham, and bought by current owner Rupert Thompson in 2012. In 2014, Hogs Back planted its own hop field on land adjacent to the brewery, bringing the traditional but near-extinct White Bine hop variety back to its Surrey home.

We’re a small family-owned brewery tucked away in the village of Tongham, in the heart of the old Surrey hop-growing region. Still an independently owned brewery, Hogs Back owe much of their success to their iconic, flagship real ale 'TEA' (Traditional English Ale) - a firm favourite of cask-conditioned real ale drinkers throughout the UK and a multi-award winning brew year-in, year-out.

Deep gold with a minimal white head. A light beer with some hay then a huge hoppy bitterness, rather too bitter to actually be refreshing. However, the beer grows on you as some honey & citrus flavour develops; this leaves a slightly syrupy mouthfeel by the end.

Bottle picked up from Westholme, Londis, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon, had this 11-05-08 This was labelled as Wobble in a Bottle. Hazy mid-amber pour with a creamy off white head that quickly departs. Some sherry like notes on the aroma, alcohol is noticeable though doesn’t really detract from the taste, bit sticky sweet at times, some dried fruits, its quite nice. I thought that it was a bit tight at this strength putting it in a 275ml bottle though, I could understand it if it was 10% or above.
