Description
Hogs Back Brewery was founded in 1992 in Tongham, and bought by current owner Rupert Thompson in 2012. In 2014, Hogs Back planted its own hop field on land adjacent to the brewery, bringing the traditional but near-extinct White Bine hop variety back to its Surrey home.

We’re a small family-owned brewery tucked away in the village of Tongham, in the heart of the old Surrey hop-growing region. Still an independently owned brewery, Hogs Back owe much of their success to their iconic, flagship real ale 'TEA' (Traditional English Ale) - a firm favourite of cask-conditioned real ale drinkers throughout the UK and a multi-award winning brew year-in, year-out.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Dark orange gold, clear with a small white head. Lovely aroma of tangerine, some tea leaves, stone fruit. Bittersweet taste, with lots of hop hitting around the back of the tongue. Really surprised how good this is.

Sour berries make a late appearance. Liqourice. Underlying slightly sour fruit and malts. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Cloudy, with a yellowish head that quickly dissipates. Aromas of exotic fruit, pine, and grapefruit. On the palate, mango, pineapple, and orange, along with a sweet fruitiness, are followed by grapefruit zest and pine, adding a delicate bitterness. Pleasant, refreshing, and incredibly drinkable.
