Bottled@HBF2015. Hazy orange colour, small white head. aroma is fruity, floral, some mild herbal, toffeeish and wooden notes. Flavour is yeasty, floral, some citrus, mild spices, herbs and some sweet malts to it as well. Quite a pleasant tripel, and for once not a thin and plain citrus boredom.

33cl bottle. 7%. Poured deep golden in color with a thick white head. Aroma hasd belgian hops, sweetness, mild yeastyness. Fruity flavors, citrusy notes with hops and yeasty notes. Quite sweet as well, ok bitterness. Quite pleasant, refreshing.

Brouwsel nr XVII - I can’t read Flemish, but I know that’s batch #17, labeled as 7,6% abv, brewed on 16-May-2012 Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a light copper glow and a thin, fast-dying just off-white head. Aroma of honey, yeast, grass, herbs, candy, apricots, figs, hay and a lot of effervescent fruit - very interesting and super potent smelling. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich malty flavour at first with a great sweet and floral yeast kick, showing a lot of honey, some subdued fruits and a grassy, perfumey kick that persists throughout. Aftertaste shows a lot of floral notes, a good grassy and complex yeast flavour, some light sugars at the tail end and a finish that lingers in a very good way on the tongue (from the bubbles and effervescence) and the palate. Overall, a very nice and incredibly complex tripel with flavours throughout showing the layers you can expect from a real Belgie tripel. Definitely worth buying and trying if you can find this! I sampled this stubby 33 cL bottle purchased from Beer Planet in Bruxelles, Belgium on 18-January-2015 for €3,00 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the pond on 03-March-2015 and packing this back in my suitcase was a great idea!

Bottle 7,8 abv but label looks the same as the picture ( maybe a bot lighter in color ) .gusher . Pours blonde , good white head . Smell is sweet, malty , some yeastyness . Taste is bit bitter , yeasty , bit buttery , sweetness from sugar . OK

Special type of ’fruit’ beer: this ale, introduced in 2011, is made with ground hazelnuts... Creamy, pale beige head, clear copper colour with rusty hue. Bit tart and woody aroma, clearly the effect of the hazelnuts, hints of blueberry, tea, coriander; sourishly dry main taste, a kind of oily, nutty sourishness, a bit coarse but very agreeable once you get used to it, enhanced by chocolatey maltiness, candied fruitiness and a bitterish finish. Strange but very interesting.

The first beer commercialized by the Verhuisbrouwerij, tasted in many of the Roman-numbered versions, but since this site does not make any difference between them, I won’t bother and consider all of them for rating this. It usually has a thinnish, sticky, cream white head and clear orange blonde colour; aroma of caramelly malts, honey, apricot, apple, ’jenever’, pear, orange zest, coriander. Taste is fruity, a bit ’citrussy’, caramelly malty backbone, spicy notes, grassy hop bitterish finish. Nothing innovative to this, just your plain and average, yet balanced Belgian tripel.

Commissioned blond with coarse, stable, snow white head and ’old gold’ colour, clear. Strange candy-like, sugary aroma, melon liqueur, vanilla, apples, grass; taste sweet and very reminiscent of melon and apple sauce, caramel candy, supple mouthfeel, very light grassy hops in the finish. Weird.

Launched for Verhuisbrouwerij’s fifth birthday, made in different versions meanwhile which are numbered with Roman numerals. This one has a creamy, off-white head and bronze colour with chestnut hue, hazy. Aroma of orange peel, caramel, hazelnuts, wheat, fresh citrussy onset, caramelly and nutty malts, fluffy mouthfeel like a true Dunkelweizen, full, with more bitter and hoppy finish than expected from the style. Very Belgian interpretation of a German style but not a ’true’ Dunkelweizen to me; enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Dark brown color with a red glare coming through, medium to full sized soapy beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, brown sugar, herbs or spices. Taste malts, again herbs and spices, lightly brown sugar, slightly sweet with a bitter touch in the finish. Decent body, firm carbonation. Hmm not a big fan of this.

Bottle @ benzai. Dark brown to black colour with a medium to full sized off-white to beige head. Smells like a pumpkin beer, brown sugar, gingerbread, herbs. Tastes lots and lots herbs and spices, very sweet, malts, slightly roasty. Medium body, nice carbo.
