330 ml bottle. Unclear amber body with a decent off-white head. Nice malty aroma with well pronounced smoke. Flavor is pleasant malty with a smooth level of smoke, mild cured meat, sausage and moderate bitterness. Medium body and pleasant smoked aftertaste. Pretty nice, well balanced and definitively a positive surprise in the middle of a small Basque village.

Ambar anaranjada, espuma media. Aroma ligeramente acaramelado y floral. Continua en boca, acentuándose el toque floral. Ligera y cremosa, y de caracter lupulado merece ser probada.

0.33l bottle. This is a slightly clouded looking golden one with a fading lacing off-white head. It gushed a little when opening it, but that could be because I dropped it just before opening it. Smells OK I guess. Mellow sweet, some old ripe fruit, thin yeast and a little bit of old citrus. Yeah, gets better after a while in the glass. It's quite drinkable in a boring-ish way. Thin oily in the mouth and it's just below average on the carbonation. Soft yeasty tones, a little burned something something. Minerally flavors in a way. No big deal really, but nothing wrong with this one. 08.08.2014

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of lemons, straw, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemons, straw, and malt, leading to a dry finish.

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge white head. Aroma is citrusy and fruity. Lingering fruity and light toasted malty. Sweet and light toasted finish. Smooth fruity finish.

12oz bottle from a random deli in Bayonne (France). Pours a hazy caramel amber with some creamy, bright white head. Nose has a fair amount of hard wood smoke, applewood bacon, sausage fat, some honeycomb. Flavor has more balance, maple and bacon, some smoked lox, a little caramel, a little roasted apple. Reminds me a bit of roasting apples over a camp fire. Clean finish. Another very solid beer.

12oz bottle I picked up at a random deli in Bayonne (France). Says "brune" on the bottle, but this is really a stout. Pours a basically opaque black with some creamy, spotty, beige head. Nose has a fair amount of roast to it, more burnt bread than coffee, malt, cracker, a touch of milk chocolate, a little bit of yeast too, which makes you think it’s got a mainland Euro twist. Flavor has milk chocolate, malted candies, toast, more coffee grounds than the nose lets on, a bit of raisin too. Perhaps, again, the faintest hint of candy which makes you think Euro twist. Dry, clean finish. Very solid beer, not just for France, but for anywhere.
