Beaucoup de malt bien foncé et énormément de café me montent au nez... Cependant, le goût ne peut suivre le parfum initial, ce qui déçoit considérablement. Bon produit malgré cela.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany red with an average, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, fruit, caramel and yeast. Sweet flavour of fruit, caramel and roasted malt with a mild bitter finish. Medium body with a watery texture and mild carbonation. Pretty decent.

Thanks to my friend Nic for bringing this one back from his East Coast trip. Second Irish Ale of the day. Pours a clean copper-amber colour with a big frothy warm beige head that lasts very long creating some thick foamy-creamy lace. Caramel nose with lost of spices. Again, caramel malt taste with some sourness (probably from not being fresh). Medium-light oily body. Much better than the one I had earlier. Have to try a fresh one when I visit.

Au premier coup d’œil, on dirait que je viens de me verser un beau grand verre de jus de pomme. Cette bière n’est pas superbe à voir et ne goûte presque rien. Désolé ;(

Pours a golden-blonde colour with a white creamy-foamy head, slight hazy in the beer and creamy foam lacing. Grainy cereal malt nose with a little sweetness, like hints of honey. The taste starts off grainy, but the finish is quick. After a few sips, very mild cereal lingers in the aftertaste. Crisp mouthfeel, with still pretty decent body for a light beer. Quite refreshing on this muggy summer day. Does the job !

Bottle from the brewery store in Frederickton, shared with the BFD crew. Pours a fairly clear medium golden color with a decent off white head. Aromas of butter and toffee dominate the aroma and flavor. Light burnt caramel flavor. Little to no spice. There’s supposed to be heather in here but honestly there is so much diacetyl in my glass I can’t find much else. Not for me.

Bottle from the brewery store. Pours a clear dark brown color with ruby at the edges and a creamy frothy off white head that displays great retention and lace. Aromas of caramel, toffee, and chocolate maltiness with just a hint of butterscotch and earthy hop to balance. The flavor is rich caramel and toffee maltiness with a fair amount of chocolate notes and some earthy hop flavor and minimal bitterness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. I seem to be a bit better at tolerating diacetyl in darker beers and I kind of enjoyed this one.

Bottle from the Brewery shop in Fredericton. Pours a fairly clear deep amber color with a decent sized bubbly frothy off white head that persists for a while. Aromas of toffee and caramel with hints of earthy hop and a touch of mineral water, fruit, and butterscotch. The flavor follows the aroma quite well. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Decent bitter, again heavy on the diacetyl.
