330 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a small and fast disappearing white head. Strong aroma totally dominated by fresh ginger. Flavor is sweet, but still quite refreshing with strong ginger and some kind of ginger type bitterness, actually not easy to find anything else here. A bit thin body and lots of ginger in aftertaste. Nice as a ginger ale if you really like ginger and I do. But it doesn’t feel much like a beer.

Bottle from Beer Cafe Ueda. Monteith’s IPA 5.5% 35 IBUs It pours a bit of a flat looking brownish gold with a soapy head of foam. A fruity nose that has a rough earthy graininess to it. The taste is caramel, rough grains and a bitterness that is a bit tannic and green but mostly neutral in flavor. A 1990s style British IPA that has been lobotimized removing most flavor and character leaving an insipid malty sweet lightly bitter bland beer. Drinkable but not what anyone in 2014 would expect from an IPA. Boring but not terrible.
