Bottle at the May De Molen monthly tasting. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a big frothy tan head. The aroma of chocolate and red berries really hits you. The flavour is medium to strong bitter. Given the abv I was surprised that there was not more liquorice. The red berry fruit is still thee with a little coffee and chocolate there in the background too. The texture is oily. I expected this beer to be big bigger and over the top, but it was smooth and creamy and the alcohol well controlled. A superb beer.

Tap at the May De Molen monthly tasting. Poured a deep chestnut brown with a big frothy slightly off white head. The aroma is yeasty and the sourness is evident. The flavour is medium sour which heads right for the palate and then the back of your throat and stays there. It’s aged in wine barrels and that’s obvious. This defines the beer, but does not dominate it. It’s a super beer for anyone that likes sours and even those people that are not sour heads might find something in there that they like.
