Description
Our craft beers are contemporary yet rooted in history and inspired by classic types of beer. You can taste the history of prison town Veenhuizen in our beers. The Maallust beers are artisanal, authentic and brewed with only the very best ingredients. Whether it’s our hoppy blonde Weldoener or the treacherously smooth tripel Zware Jongen; Maallust beers are full of character.
Maallust was founded in 2011. It was initiated by a group of 25 entrepeneurs who call themselves the ‘Zware Jongens’ (Heavy Guys). They not only started brewing in Veenhuizen, they also revived the dilapidated Maallust complex. After a thorough renovation, the brewery opened its doors. Today, the Maallust complex looks marvelous, and its beer is available all throughout the Netherlands. Maallust is the perfect addition to a village with a unique history.

33cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy dark orange color, medium sized dense white head. Not much aroma other than malts and lightly blossom. Taste malts, herbs or spices, grains and lightly hops. Medium body, a bit fizzy, sharp carbonation.

Bottle @ home thx to benzai. Deep amber colour with a decent and dense white head. Smells floral, some hops, blossom, some herbs. Tastes fresh, bitter, orangepeel, malts, fruity. Has some nice ipa characteristics. Medium body, great carbo.

30cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy light orange to golden color, small white head that diminishes quickly. Smell malts, lightly yeast, a hint of banana. Taste malts, again lightly yeast, clearer banana now and some sweet-bitter notes. Don’t really like this combination much, though the beer itself isn’t way off-balance or anything. Just not my taste. Medium to high, a bit fizzy carbonation, and medium bodied. I guess it could work for some people.
