Description
Ridgeway Brewing was established in 2002 by master brewer Peter Scholey (former head brewer at Brakspear) and his wife Vanda. The name comes from the ancient trade route that winds its way through English countryside between small towns. It has been around for thousands of years, adapting with the changing times, The reason why we chose the name Ridgeway, apart from living on it, was that we hope to create lasting experiences, believe in the long term and love the outdoors.

0.50l bottle. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, grass and flowers. Pours clear golden color with large soapy white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts with medium sweet toasted malt and fruity acidity, following is herbal and medicinal, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is pretty bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 15 Feb 2026) Golden colour with foamy white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, lemon peel, tropical fruit, pineapple and grass. Fruity, slightly malty taste with notes of citrus, lemon peel, pineapple, resin, grass, wheat crackers and a balanced citric/grassy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Refreshing. Quite nice.

From Bine and Vine, bb looks like 2026, can't read month and day because of a sticker.
It pours reddish gold with a finger of foam that lasts. Lacing is excellent.
Smell is a nice mix of malty sweetness and hop bitterness. Earthy notes popped in my nose.
The taste is English malt that brings sweet and earthy
notes, nice English hop bitterness that provides balance, little bit of grass. I'm digging this ESB..
Medium bodied, I would drink this again.

This bottle conditioned ale portrays all that is best about the traditional British bitter - hoppy bitterness on the palate and the nose is married with the full body of the beer. Ridgeway bitter uses an unusual aphid-resistant hop variety Boadicea. A golden beer with an aroma of floral hops and a little orange marmalade.

500ml bottle, and yeah, 4.0%abv Bitter so that make it an official Session beer. Label has this on it: BBF 24 6 10 so I'm thinking that translates to best before June 24, 2010.
A slightly hazy light gold colour with about an inch of foam. There's not much of any bubble activity.
The smell is a nice balance between sweet malts and light citrus hops(the label says Challenger & Boadicea, the latter I've never heard of) Bottom line re the smell is that it smells very much a brew coming from the UK. I'm expecting good things with the taste.
The taste has a very nice hoppy bitter flavour that is countered by some sweetish notes from the malt and a light fruitiness that I'm guessing is very cherry like. I notice it more when I swish the beer in my mouth but without swishing, it is still there. I'm liking this English Bitter. Plenty of flavour for the abv.
It borders on medium bodied but I'd still call it light, the carbonation is medium..could be restrained just a tad more but works. Good mouthfeel.
Drinkability? Great drinkability and why the hell not! Low in alcohol and plenty of flavour. What's not to like? I wish I had picked up more than 1 bottle.

Update. I drank a bottle this morning and was very disappointed. Near zero malt presence and the hops came across as astringent.
I will rate from my first experience.
