Description
Ridgeway Brewing was established in 2002 by master brewer Peter Scholey (former head brewer at Brakspear) and his wife Vanda. The name comes from the ancient trade route that winds its way through English countryside between small towns. It has been around for thousands of years, adapting with the changing times, The reason why we chose the name Ridgeway, apart from living on it, was that we hope to create lasting experiences, believe in the long term and love the outdoors.

Bought by Crafty Brewing in February 2025.

Bottle at home. Dark brown/black coloured with golden bubbly head. Quite sticky looking. Aroma is roasted malt, slightly herbal, bit creamy. Taste has a touch of smoke, toffee, chocolate, some liquorice and lots of roastiness again.Touch of bitterness with the sweetness at the end. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Medium bodied and pretty nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bad King John on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Bottle from Sainsburys. Slightly red, probably more dark blond colour. Little white head that doesn't last long. Aroma is a quite biscuity, bit hoppy citrus, and quite sweet with a herbal twist. Taste is initially weird, slightly stale, but progresses into something malty with a bitter finish. Feels a bit thin in the mouth, but has something indescribable about it. Lingers in the mouth for a while afterwards. Confusing but interesting. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ivanhoe on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 6. Sweet-ish, minimally grainy malty and herbal, fruity, hoppy aroma, some toffee and butterscotch, a touch of nettle and yellow berries. Taste is sweet-ish malty, minimally fruity hoppy, hints of butterscotch, toffee, am unspecific fruity touch of yellow fruit.

Bottle from Tbone, thanks! Blonde. Grapefruit and flowery hops in the aroma. Firm flowery and grassy hopbitterness with lemon. Thinnish, but quite well balanced. Excellent ale.
