About
On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

On Tap at PreFunk Boise slight haze on this amber pour. Nice fine dense light tan head. Very good toasted caramel malt aromas. A little brown sugar and sweetness in the flavros. Moderate bitterness, like it say and mellowed for a while. A hint of the high ABV but not boozy per se' Quite good.

Draft pour pint at Special Brews. Presented in nitro. Dark brown, near black cola like pour, tan cream head that lasts. Toasty malt aroma. Pretty standard dry stout, but that means it's good. It's never easy for me to pick them apart, but easy for me to enjoy. Very easy to drink. Smooth today malt and a dry, dusty chocolate finish. Soft bitter ending. Nicely done.

2017 bottle opened July 2018, so definitely not as fresh as it should be. Nose has light caramel, pine resin, jasmine, some grass, citrus and light juniper. Flavour is light caramel with a medium+ pine bitterness and a touch of spice. Doesn't seem as bitter as the 95 IBU would indicate which may be due to the age. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation and a long bitter finish. 8/3+/7/3+/15+

500ml bottle. Pours a hazy gold-orange with plenty of yeast particles floating around and a medium, foamy, long lasting, ecru head that laces nicely. Sweet fruity aroma of pineapple, mango, orange peel, coriander, pale malt and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, caramel, orange peel, grapefruit, apricot, bubble gum, Belgian yeast, pine resin and floral with a dry, bitter, spicy hop finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Enjoyable.

The Aromas are the best thing here with black patent dark malt old leather. Flavors are somewhat like nose a little Bitter Sweet at First going to a huge long bitter finish that is too much. It's also heightened by the alcohol not in a good way. Not an easy drinking beer.

Bottle from Boise Co-op Meridian. Medium amber, clear, foamy head lasts awhile. Aroma and taste are a complex mess of pine, dank notes, floral, malts. Soapy at times, sweet at others. Not sure what the end game was, but it took a detour somewhere. Looking to see if I get accustomed to it...

500ml bottle from Tavour shared by my daughter. Nose is toffee, oak, and light vanilla and bourbon. Clear rusty red with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter with contrasting sweetness, fruity, and bourbon with a hint of alcohol warmth. Wish it had a bit more bourbon.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver
Hazy blond color. Mild aroma of citrusy hops. Lean mouthfeel, quite dry, with mild crisp malt base; the hopping is bold, the hops have some citrus peel character.
Solid IPA.

Black colour with creamy beige head. Just some roasted malt in the aroma. Strong flavour of roasted malt, not much residual sweetness, on the other side it has strong malt acidity, light liquorice; aggressive roastiness in the finish, ashy.
There is very little Imperial Stout character here, not one that I will remember positively.
