Description
On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

On Tap at the River Room, Whole Foods, Boise Clear redish brown with a small soapy light tan head. Light rpast aroma, busy flavors of roast, some of that fruity notes that the lager yeast leaves and a dry but chalky trailer. Strange bitterness. Calling it a porter got my hopes up a little too much

On Tap at the River Room, Whole Foods, Boise Another DM pale dingy yellow beer. Thin but dense white head. Nice bright piney hop aroma. Big hoppy biter flavor but dull and blunt. A little soapy. Plenty of IBUs for a LA but not as good on the fresh hop flavor.

Draft - Earthy, sweet caramel and hops. Cloudy copper with a decent white head. Cardboard and resin, not fresh. I am not reviewing fairly as I can taste the age, so will attempt to try again. Draft - Not Much different than the original. Colour is clear copper. Hops are a bit fresher, but still on the earthy muted side.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark ruddy/orange/amber (against strong light) with a transient beige head. Aroma is malty, reminding of cola. Med +body. Flavor is malty, but hard to define hop seems to be keeping it rather dry. Think I’m getting Belgian yeast/esters. Indeed. Maybe this stuff is reminding me of Orval? It’s getting better and better. Just read the label. This may have been done with Chimay yeast! Suddenly I like it even more. :)

Draught @ World of Beer, Seattle, WA
Pours hazy yellowish with a smooth head. Aroma of stuffy malts, some citrusy hops, caramel and orange peel. Taste is sweet, juicy and hoppy with some biscuity malts and grass. Finish is crisp, zesty and juicy. Okay, a bit stuffy IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hoperation #7 (Mosaic) on 11 Jun 2014 at 18:16 - Score: 7. Original review text: Nw. LAK - NYR
