On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark ruddy/orange/amber (against strong light) with a transient beige head. Aroma is malty, reminding of cola. Med +body. Flavor is malty, but hard to define hop seems to be keeping it rather dry. Think I’m getting Belgian yeast/esters. Indeed. Maybe this stuff is reminding me of Orval? It’s getting better and better. Just read the label. This may have been done with Chimay yeast! Suddenly I like it even more. :)

Medium brown, thin bubbly head. Aroma is chocolatey, slightly nutty, sweetish, decent hoppy bitterness. Good balanced porter.

Pours hazy yellowish with a smooth head. Aroma of stuffy malts, some citrusy hops, caramel and orange peel. Taste is sweet, juicy and hoppy with some biscuity malts and grass. Pours amber red with a smooth head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, hops and syrup. Taste is malty, sweet and caramely with some toffee and grassy hops. Pours hazy yellow with a smooth head. Aroma of lemon peel, lime juice and tartish notes. Taste is smooth, juicy and lemony with notes of lime and citrus. Finish is juicy and zesty with lime and lemon notes. A bit strange and unbalanced.

I like the word in the description, that says "glowing", it fits. Beautiful hazy medium golden with high, rocky head; big, chunky bits of lacing. Light but pungent hop aroma, hops and malt represent equally in the taste, some spiciness. Slight astringency burn at the finish. Really, really good.

Pours yellowish orange with a smooth head. Aroma of fruits, citrus, wet hops and pine. Taste is sweet, juicy hoppy and fruity with loads of pine, citrus and resin. Finish is massively bitter, juicy hoppy and sweet fruity. Quite hoppy DIPA.
