Hypha Project

Contract Brewer in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦

Description
All three of us started homebrewing at various times but at the peak we would meet up as a brewing group in Vancouver, BC and have a helluva time brewing together. On these brew days we would invite all our friends and neighbors and fire up the barbeque. Long days were spent creating, consuming and discussing our passion....beer.

Over time, the group all went in various directions, a few ultimately started local breweries, others just continued to practice drinking beer. This project reunites three of us from those days and we want to access that community feeling again but bigger this time. We love well made beer and art that doesn't take itself too seriously, so that's what this is about, those two things and the people who feel connected to them.

Very modest foam on some good clear gold body, strong visible carbonation. Subdued sweet hop aroma, vague kumquat and sugared cantaloupe. Taste has some earthy rice grain with sweet hops. Very good smooth mouthfeel, slight oiliness, carbonation doesn't pan out. Nice meld of rice and hops, smooth and easy drinking.

473mL can, pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, with lots of piney hops, resinous hop oils, and sweet caramel malt. Flavour is oily, with lots of piney and resinous hops, some caramel, and biscuity malt. Oily and bitter on the finish with just enough sweetness. There's a bit of metallic character to it, which I might be mistaking for the farmhouse character. Good stuff.

Blond colour, hazy to cloudy. Nice aroma, moderately dank, ripe stone fruit. Full bodied, smooth, with moderate residual sugar; it starts with some flavour of sugar, pale malt, piney hops, some orange peel, grapefruit, mild dank character too, and a pleasant alcohol punch in the finish. Good one, willing to try from can as well.

Very nice foam on a cloudy yellow body. Good candied tangerine on the nose, slight peach and pine. Flavour is bitter pine, soft tangerine sweetness. Bitterness lingers, good oiliness, but I'd prefer it wasn't so bitter so the flavours could come out more.

Can. Slight haze, a bit dull. Nice head frothed up, though. Bright hops going in fun directions - mango, gooseberry and sauving. On the palate, nice balance. A bit of biscuity malt, too. Yeah, this is a pretty good example.

473mL can, pours a hazy golden yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is somewhat chalky, with citrus zest, piney hops, chalk, and pith. Flavour is vibrant, with citrus zest, piney hops, a little chalk, and bitter pith. This actually works pretty well—not too green nor chalky. Well-constructed, with ample bitterness on the finish. Pretty solid.
